The Wizard of Oz comes to the Angela Peralta Theater on Saturday & Sunday
The presents the children's classic "Wizard of Oz" as its year-end performance at the close of Spring Season 2007.
The Wizard comes to the Angela Peralta Theater on Saturday & Sunday, the final performances of the Spring Season organized by the Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art.
The School of Ballet at the Municipal Center for the Arts will bringthe children's classic authored by Frank Baum with the participation of 105 children from the ages of 7 to 15. They have been trained by Zoila Fernandez Fernandez and Margarita Naranjo de Zaa.
This work debuted five years ago here but it returns in a completely revised form including use of new lighting techniques, video, new costumes and a cast that has been rehearsing for the past two months.
First performance will take place at 8:00 p.m. Saturday June 30 andthe second will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, both in the Angela PeraltaTheater.
Well-known maestra Zoila Fernandez says that in this return of thework a more modern design of both costumes and choreography brings the performance to a much higher technical and artistic level. It's a show that the entire family can enjoy, she adds.
With the presentation of "Wizard of Oz," the Municipal School of Ballet culminates its scholastic year and the Municipal Institute ofCulture, Tourism and Art closes its Spring Season 2007.
